Primal Fear: Matt Sinner talks about the tour, future shows and actual line-up
Added Tuesday, May 18, 2004 BW&BK caught up with Primal Fear bassist Mat Sinner as he was coming down from the European tour for the new album, Devil’s Ground. He offered some insight as to how the band is working with a new album and new members in the line-up.
"First of all, we play a lot of songs from the Devil’s Ground album live, something we didn’t do with Black Sun,” says Mat. “We’re very happy with how the band sounds and works in these days. I’ve never heard Primal Fear this energetic and tight before. The fans are great. Metal Is Forever is a real monster live; everyone screams the chorus with us!”
With regards to the “new” line-up, which features founding guitarist Tom Naumann back in the fold and former Annihilator drummer Randy Black:
“The band was never, ever in better shape than now. Randy is one of the best drummers for this kind of metal and he’s a very cool guy. We had a lot of fun on the European tour – same goes for Tom. It feels like he was never away. We’re very happy at the moment with the line-up and the performances If the entire band is happy with what we’re doing, being on the road is, of course, a lot of easier and hell of a lot more fun.”
As for tours outside of Europe, which will begin with the BW&BK Six Pack Weekend in Cleveland on June 4th – 6th:
“We play two shows in the US in June and another 10 shows in South America. Then the Open Air festival season and some more shows in Europe. We have some offers for Japan and Korea for October …… we’re a busy band (laughs). We’ll wait for the reaction of the two shows and maybe we can come back (to North America) in December or January for a real tour!”
