Yes this is it. Metallica's most controversial album. I have to agree that this album really doesn't resemble there previous albums (especially the last two). But then with the exception of the last two NO Two Metallica albums are exactly the same. Unlike Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax (not including different lead singers) if you dumped every Metallica song into one big pile you could sort them! Example: Kill EM ALL, catchy riffs. Simple (but not to simple) lyrics. Also there fastest album to date! Ride the Lighting: Much more focused and heavy lyrics. Overall, not as fast as Kill (but more fancy) but has an Acoustic intro to the first song (Fight fire with Fire). MASTER: Arguably the best album. It has Longer solos, Sound Effects (Damage Inc), with lyrics that put the last two to shame. Justice: Has a common focus in all the songs (going insane, a failing Gov, and result of the chaos of it) One, of the most underrated albums that Metallica has put out! Black: The Radio focused album. The songs were shortened for radio play (but that meant that you got more than 8 songs. St. Anger: no solos, intense drums, and totally kills the alternative rock phase of load and reload. And reasonably strong song structure has simple but memorable lyrics. (I love the rush when James says St. Anger). IN MY OPINION: while this isn't there best effort it is still worth a chance (a real chance). I know people who like and dislike the album. Don't let some ex-metallica fan trick you in to not even trying it. *especially now that you can find it used or even in some libraries* CYA
