Yes, St. Anger has a new sound to it. Yes it is not the best Metallica album, but definitely not the worst. The thing that got to me was the sound quality. I think Hetfield could of shoved a microphone up his ass and farted, and the sound quality would've been better. The riffs are definitely nu-metal influenced, more simple in structure, but the old Metallica vibe is still there. I prefer the Black Album or Ride the Lightning over St. Anger, but I think this album is worth the money. The Metallimen are still the Kings of Heavy Metal, though not my favorite band, but they are up there. I prefer Slipknot or Slayer (God Hates Us All), but Metallica is one of the most talented and successful bands of all time.
