In the early 80s, a garage band named Metallica. At first they seemed ordinary, but quickly they showed what they were made of. After two albums that most heavy metal fans would be willing to pay money for, they unleashed what many Metalheads consider to be the the Greatest Metal Album of all time, Master of Puppets. Two more albums followed, both with different styles, but still held the irreplaceable combination of raw power and musical talent that was Metallica. Then, they started to fall downhill fast with pseudo nu-metal sissy music of Load, Reload, and Garage Inc. In 2003, Metallica fans braced for what was supposed to be their heaviest, rawest album yet. And it was, but in a bad way. If you ignore the garbage cans Lars seems to be playing, and the fact that the guitar sounds like it does when your 5-year old brother loosens all the strings, you can absorb the fact that the lyrics are the same words over and over (st. Anger around my neck..... ST ANGER AROUND MY NECK!) The sound quality is out done by vinyl records (with scratches), and it lacks both power and musicality that drew me to Metallica in the 1st place. if i wanted to listen to tin cans and garage music that a 3 year old could play, I would have spent half the money on a Slipknot album. Some people may like the sound, but those who do, don't like heavy metal.
