When I was told Metallica combined their hits with strings,clarinets,flutes,and harps,I thought this would be the biggest mistake of all time.But I was completley wrong.S&M is played beautifully and aggressivley at the same time.I got this album for christmas and now I listen to it all the time.Who would've thought Heavy Metal and Classical music would be put together so well?My fav's on this album are:
1.Ecstasy of Gold-From the Good,Bad,and Ugly movie.Not a bad way to start off (it is one of my favorite movies)
2.For Whom The Bell Tolls-A Great ballad of monster lyrics and raging music.
3.Of Wolf and Man-I had to get use to this one,but in the end I loved the entire song
4.Fuel-Excellent song
5.Memory Remains-Another great hit on this album
6.No Leave clover-The orchestra on this one was awesome.It sounds like a battle is about to take place,or soldiers marching
7.Nothing Else Matters-When I first heard this,i felt tears.I never heard anything this beautiful before.8.Human-Another good track for S&m only
9.One-Well put together The ones I wasn't crazy about:
1.Master of Puppets-A great song,but James lets the crowd take over on this one
2.Whereever I may Roam-Not bad,but it didn't appeal to me
3.Sad but true-This I thought was the worst song on here.Yet it completley rocks on the black album.Evan though I gave it 5 stars,there's still a few songs that weren't on S&M that I would've liked such as Unforgiven,Fade to Black,and King Nothing Say what you want about Metallica and you can keep calling them a sell-out,but times change and Metallica went with it.So if you don't like their new material,THEN STAY AWAY FROM IT!'
If you want to keep living in the past,then be that way.This is the future.DEAL WITH IT!
