Ride the Lightning is a thrash metal classic. It's very fast and very heavy. If you're a thrash metal fan and you don't own this, go out and get it now! This, along with Master of Puppets, is one of my favorite Metallica albums.

Fight Fire With Fire: Starts out with a slow and clean guitar intro, but quickly becomes fast, heavy and dark. This one has an extremely fast main riff and is one of my favorites off of this album. 5/5

Ride the Lightning: This is one of my least favorites off the album, but it's still quite good. 4/5

For Whom the Bell Tolls: This song is short, slow and one of Metallica's simplest, but it's still very heavy and easily one of my favorites. 5/5

Fade to Black: This is probably my least favorite ballad from Metallica, but it's not bad at all. 4/5

Trapped Under Ice: Although it's fast and energetic, it's really not one of my favorites. 4/5

Escape: This is a very underrated song. It's very strong and has an awesome chorus. I wish Metallica would play it live, but if I remember correctly, they (well, James at least) don't like it. 5/5

Creeping Death: Very fast and heavy song. Based on the movie "The Ten Commandments". This is also one of my favorites. The solo in it is killer! 5/5

The Call of Ktulu: Instrumental song. Very thrashy and heavy, yet melodic at the same time. This is the longest song on the album, but it doesn't get boring at any time. The title came from the short story "The Call of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft. 5/5

Overall, Ride the Lightning is an awesome thrash metal album that any metal fan should have in their collection.
