When this first came out very few people had heard of the band. But, unlike all the Van Halen type bands at the time this band demonstrated a natural transition from Sabbath and Priest. The opening track is as heavy as hell and the album flows with tightness and the song writing is excellent. Ride the Lightning and Creeping Death are a couple of Metalicca's best tracks ever. It's albums like these that demonstrate what can be done. Much critism has been made about their most recent stuff, but it has to be said that this is the proper Metalicca that most of the fans want. Perhaps it's because most of theri earlier material was fuelled by alcohol that now we only hear all the cold turkey stuff.
