I have RTL tied with Master of Puppets as metallica's greatest albums. Unlike MOP which takes on a heavy & harsh tone, RTL has a broader musical blend which includes low notes, high notes, speeed , acoustics, and one thing that MOP and all the proceeding albums lacked which is melody. An amazing formula that Metallica put together by incorporating melody into metal and morphing it into a hectic pace. Obviously these guys are highly skilled musicians to pull that off because no other band has been successfull in doing that. It amazes me that this was an underground album only known to the metal community which in that time was closed off to the main stream. Just evaluating this album from a musical perspective makes it superior to all the other stuff out in those days. That just shows high narrow minded the musical community was back then since they chose to neglect this great album and play studio produced songs that lacked energy or originality. Further proof of their stupidity is that the songs on this album have stood the test of time since people still listen to them and kids who werent even born back then know RTL.
