After becoming the fastest band in the land on 1984's Ride The Lightning, Metallica slowed down their tempos a little on Master Of Puppets. They were still a thrash band, but on some tracks, some Rush-esque prog melodies are hidden beneath the thrash. The first solo on the title track is one of these moments. This is not as good as the 5-star Ride The Lightning, but it is still a metal classic. So if you like thrash metal with progressive elements, this will be the album for you.
