Of course everyone knows that this is Metallica's first album (unless they're stuck in current times). This is the birth of speed/thrash metal. Every song is loud, fast, and heavy! This is #4 on my best Metallica album list. It's a classic in every sense. James' voice may be screeching very high, but hey, mostly every band/artist don't sound so hot with their first release, right? I love Cliff's bass solo on "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth," one of a kind. "Phantom Lord" is a song I don't hear much often, but it's one of their best. The other songs are also great. When I first heard it, I wondered if it was the same Metallica that I've heard with their later releases. They were young, but they've improved with each album up until the Black Album. It's a good CD for any Metallica or metal fan for that matter. Many say it's not their best, but without it, we wouldn't be gettin' some of the best metal sound that's been released over the years.
