This album features help from dave mustaine of megadeath. Dave really shines in this album, sadly it is metallica's only album he was involved with. Enough boring stuff, let's look at the songs!Hit the lights 5/10 the only song on the album I usually skip. I usually don't mind James Hetfields loud, raspy, voice, but it just seems annoying on this song, especially with the echo. The lyrics are a little too similar to whiplash and not very interesting. But don't form your opinion of the album based on this song, there is some killer(no pun intended) material coming up The four horsemen 10/10 the song nearly seems too short at seven minutes. The main riff is amazing, and the guitar keeps getting better as the song progresses, and really shows you what the band can do. The lyrics are chilling and brutal. This song is a masterpiece in its own and a perfect addition to the album as well. Motorbreath 10/10 The song starts with some great drumming from Lars Ulrich, one of the greatest drummers of any band. By the time the song was done, I knew the album was worth it. Its a short song, but if it were any longer it would get a little annoying and repetitive. Probably my third favorite song on the album, next to the four horseman and the phantom lord. jump in the fire 9/10
a pretty good song, but it cant compare to the previous two songs. (anesthesia)-pulling teeth 10/10 the song is a bass solo by Cliff Burton, a truly great bassist who really shows what he can do in the song. Definatley worth a listen. Whiplash 10/10 this song is a good representation of the whole album: violent, brutal,hard, heavy,and evil. Not that's a bad thing. Its basically a song about the band itself, similar to it the lights. Phantom lord 10/10 probably my favorite song on the album. Featuring some truly mind-blowing guitar, great lyrics, amazing drums and bass. No remorse 9/10 an okay song, but not as good as most of the songs on the album. A little bit better than jump in the fire, however. Seek & destroy 8/10 the second worst song on the album, but still not a bad song at all. just a little repetitive, and it really drags on and makes you wonder when it will be over. Metal militia 10/10 a very fast song featuring really good guitar. overall score: 91/100 wow. That's one great album. I have heard some of the material from master of puppets and ride the lightning, and people say they are better albums. But trust me, this is definatley a fanstastic album in its own right, and I would reccomend buying this album to anyone who likes this type of music. Some other bands you will like if you like this album are black sabbath, iron maiden and megadeath.
