Alright, so this is the first Metallica album I bought since "...And Justice For All", and for the most part I'm impressed. At least with the second cd- I heard the "Garage Days" tunes from old tapes my friends had and I've been longing for a cleaned up collection of these tracks; well here we go. However, what was a really nice surprise were the 5 tracks that followed, from "Breadfan" to "Killing Time", which were B-sides that I'd never heard before, all with sounds reminiscient of the great "Justice" days. Luckily, the songs on this disc were so good that they kept the album from getting less stars due to.......the 1st disc. Not at all impressive, this disc represents the "new" Metallica: slow, weak, weighed down by ballads and an alternative/rockabilly sound. This disc collects dust in my collection while the second disc is in the cd changer in my car. All in all, "Garage Inc." is a great album; normally I'd say stay away from any album released after they cut their hair, but this is an exception. Then again, the songs that made this album so good were originally produced before their visit to the salon...
