"Metallica Covers Misfits, Sabbath, & Bob Seger Tracks"

Released just 5 years ago, 1998's "Garage Inc.", was a return-to-roots album for the boys of Metallica. James, Lars, Kirk, & Jason, decided to re-visit their roots, by covering classic tracks by some of their favorite bands. Disc 1, which was recorded entirely in 1998, features the singles "Turn the Page (Bob Seger)", "Whiskey in the Jar (Thin Lizzy)", & "Die, Die My Darling (The Misfits/Danzig)." These new remakes are very entertaining, and sound better and more heavier than the originals. You also get a cover of, "Sabbra Cadabra", from Black Sabbath's 1973 LP "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath" on disc 1. Disc 2, is shock full of old, vintage Metallica, from 1984, 1987, 1988, and the early 1990's. This disc completely blows the first disc away, and is of much interest to dedicated fans. The first 5 tracks are the remastered "Garage Days Re-Revisited" tracks from 1987, which are Jason Newsted's first ever studio recordings with Metallica. "Helpless (Diamond Head)" "Last Caress (The Misfits)", & "The Wait (Holocaust)" are among the highlights of that EP. Following this 1987 EP, are some tracks recorded in 1984 (with Cliff Burton on bass), b-sides to singles from "...And Justice for All (1988)", and a cover of Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy (1990)." The last few tracks on this disc, are covers of Motorhead classics, that were recorded in 1995, prior to the release of the controversial "Load (1996)" album. I suggest you get this double CD set used, and avoid the "WAL-MART version", which I accidentally bought back in 1998. This version beeps out all swears, which can get really annoying at times. Luckily, I re-bought this album in 1999, when it was on sale.
