I, like many, have liked Manowar for a while now. I realize that some of their material has been a little...over the top, in the past but that is one of the things that is great (and fun) about it. This album, however, is literally divided in half. On one half you have rather slow songs that, respectively, probably appeal to a certain audience - but certainly not the average/typical Manowar fan. On the other half you have some of the best songs Manowar have ever done - fast, brutal, heavy, and with just the right amount of that over-the-top goodness we've all come to expect. The slower, "American Heartland" type stuff and the Opera song simply do not fit into a Metal album. I think that a lot of people who bought this album were surprised, and rather stunned, when they cranked it up on their stereos waiting anxiously for the next battle that Manowar were going to lead them into, only instead to hear "Oh I wish I were in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten, look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land." Buy this album for the good songs: Call to Arms, Warriors of the World United, Hand of Doom, House of Death, & Fight Until We Die.
