When this album came out, I was 14 years old and loved it. At 32, I can only grin and say...I liked it in 1984. If you still live, eat and breath this type of metal, there are a few good points to be found herein. The vocals are operatic and melodramatic, with only a little too much screaming. The music is strong, powerful metal, if a little sparse. The lyrics, well, that's personal taste. I like "marching to battle" type songs, so the title track still sounds good to me. However, lines like "...I rape the priestess on Pagan's night..." are not for me, nor is the overtly Satanical nonsense on "Bridge of Death."If you're into this type of thing, buy it for "Blood of My Enemies" and "Hail to England." However, be forwarned, this is the stuff from which Spinal Tap was born!
