According to a recent JP documentary, Rob's vocals disappeared in the original recording due to faulty equipment. So he redid them in a single take in the studio later, while all the instrumental sound is completely live. Whether this is "live" enough for the purists is a different matter, but it makes no difference to me. My only problem with this album is that it is too short! Every song is a classic, the sound is gorgeous and, due to Rob's microphone failure, we are spared the silly between-song banter that plague many otherwise superb live metal albums. I, for one, do not miss hearing l(...) platitudes of "how we're really gonna party tonight" or that "(city name) really rocks". Check out the Scorpions' "World Wide Live" for particularly egregious examples of this obnoxious behaviour. This album, on the other hand, has no flaws (perhaps apart from the dodgy cover photos). With the reissue providing four extra tracks, there is no excuse for any metal fan for not having it prominently displayed in the CD collection.
