The Greatest Priest Album, Ever

(Rated this album with 10 out of 10)
Reviewed by JP from Illinois

This was my first Judas Priest album. This is the one to have if you can only have one. This album cranks from start to finish, and Victim of Changes is the greatest JP track of all time. how can you deny it? Unfortunately, most of the harmony into got cut in the mix, but you can hear it on live recordings.

This album is Rob Halford at his peak, with Tipton and Downing laying down masterful, stunning riffery in the background.

Victim of Changes: Tons of cool chromatics in the riffs, tempo changes, and Halford...JEEZ does he get up there! The last note should bring you to your feet in praise of the Metal Gods.

The Ripper: Despite sounding like Howard Cosell at times (you're in for a shock! He could go all the way!) this is a signature track. Check the Iced Earth cover for an even better take.

Dreamer Deceiver: Forget those ... ballads. This is what a soaring, expansive solo should sound like. And Halford goes off! his range is untouchable.

Deceiver: Neat how the end drops back into Dreamer Deceiver.

Prelude: This song creeps and crawls right into the beginning of...

TYRANT!!!! This is an awesome, awesome track. Halford's vocals as they pound out the last few power chords...man! He IS the man.

Genocide: The cool dunt-dunt-dunt-dunnnnnnnnnnnn part with his deeper vocals in the middle is neat as all get out. I like to shout the phrase "Mercenary...BATTALIONS!"

Epitaph: Alright! Neat vocals. And creepy, especially how it goes right into...

Island of Domination: I don't know why the guy with the needle is pleading to get to his face. but I know that he sounds like Louie Armstrong at times. And the end! Again! Halford hits notes reserved for the opera, with power and style.

If YOU don't buy this album, you will be taken unto the island of DOMINA-shunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Shunnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Etc.

We saw Priest live last year. And Ripper nailed Victim of Changes. He nailed everything. Wow.
