After some soft and 'commercial' albums during the 1980's Judas Priest returned in 1990 with Painkiller, in my opinion the best album of their career and arguably one of the best metal albums ever released. The leading instrument on Painkiller are drums. Scott Travis has a powerful and ultra-fast touch to his instrument which is difficult to come by anywhere. Rob Halford's voice is in top condition. Lead riffs by Tipton and Downing are sharp and sound production is crisp. In this album even bassist Ian Hill comes alive a couple of times. Most remarkable and often covered tracks include Painkiller, Night Crawler and Touch of Evil. But don't expect anything from remaster extras.
