Judas Priest's Reviews

Painkiller

Halford's grand finale with Judas Priest

(Rated this album with 8 out of 10)

After some experimental efforts on their last two albums, Judas Priest went back to the hard and heavy. The vocals are higher, the drums are faster, and the guitar playing is more furious than ever. This is the band's fastest and heaviest album. Now to the tracks:

Painkiller: Put simply this is as close to a perfect metal track as you can get. A+

Hell Patrol: Fast drums and slow vocals make this one interesting. A

All Guns Blazing: Fast and heavy track with good vocals. A

Leather Rebel: Mid-tempo vocals with fast-paced instruments are what this track is all about. A-

Metal Meltdown: Excellent guitar fusion stylings, along with an extremely memorable chorus. A

Night Crawler: Mid-tempo track with good vocals, guitar, and an interesting speech. A-

Between The Hammer And The Anvil: Fast hard rocker with excellent guitar playing. A

Touch Of Evil: Mid-tempo track with awesome beat and guitar playing, and good vocals. A

Battle Hymn/One Shot At Glory: Mid-tempo hard rocker with good riffs and vocal delivery. A

BONUS TRACKS:

Living Bad Dreams: Slower and melodic "power ballad" type rocker. A

Leather Rebel (Live): See above for review of this track. A-

Though a good album, it is overrated by JP fans. Faster, harder, heavier, and louder doesn't necessarily mean better. Still, it's a good album and you should listen to it at least once.
