I was never really a big Priest fan growing up, but I liked Painkiller a lot and grew to like them eventually in the past few years. I picked up Jugulator and while I found it to be truely awesome in the gutairs and druming department, the lyrics were kinda... silly.

Demolition shows some serious imrovements in that department. Now this is the total package. One of the best metal albums of the year. I can't believe anyone would complain about it being too lengthy and the songs being too long. I think it's great to see a real metal band that knows how to write real songs, not just a catchy chorus to play on the radio like every other cookie-cutter metal band that's come out in the past few years. All of these songs take the time to develop and are much deeper than just a few versus and an infinitely repeating chorus.

This one just feels more mature than Jugulator, mostly because of the drastic improvements in the lyrics - they don't feel cheesy. There are many great songs, I don't think there's a single track I dislike - How often can you say that? Machine Man is great, as all opening tracks should be. Hell is Home is good too, Bloodsuckers and Feed on Me are also standouts, but the truth is that all are great in one way or another.

I like Rob Halford and think he's a tremendous singer. I liked Fight and his short lived industrial band Two. His new solo stuff is really cool too, but I think that Ripper Owens is arguably a better singer - at least for this form of Judas Priest. He can hit all the astronomicly high notes, but he's got a real sense of aggression that fits perfectly with their sound now. I like it.
