Every now and then a CD comes along which epitomizes the genre of HEAVY metal. Demolition is just such a record. Most of the puke which passes for metal these days is either K-Rap/fusion garbage or sell outs from older bands like Megadeth and Metallica. I have been a metalhead since the days of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath, and have been progressively dismayed by the direction of today's music. Judas Priest, however, are an anomaly in the music industry. Most bands would have folded up and gone home after the loss of a front man like Rob Halford. But when I heard the vocals of Tim "Ripper" Owens on Jugulator, I was quite simply blown away! I believe the Ripper to be the finest metal vocalist ever...bar none...even surpassing the great Ronnie James Dio! His range extends from the finest gravely depths to the screaming banshee high notes of King Diamond (without all the annoying histrionics of many of todays vocalists). Demolition showcases this talent with even more depth and finese. The dual guitars of Tipton and Downing are as usual AWESOME!! The songwriting is stronger and heavier than ever, layered and complex in some places, grinding and powerful in others. Those who are looking for the consummate metal album need look no further. I hope this is a trend that others will follow and that someday REAL metal will return again. Demolition rules..PLAY IT LOUD.
