I'm a longtime Judas Priest, for their great musical style (melody, heaviness,Rob Halford's voice), but after the departure of Halford, JP fans (me included) started to think "maybe it is time to retired, they will never find someone like Halford". Well we were "almost wrong", if you listen to "Live Meltdown 98" you will think the new vocalist "ripper" Owens is the new messiah because of his great performance singing Halford's stuff. But when it comes to new material things are very ugly. Ripper's studio singing is stale and not as melodic as Halford. The band is trying so hard to sound "new" that makes me feel that I spent [amt.] in a joke. There are very few good guitar solos and a heavy dose of stupid guitar effects. Scott Travis drumming is the worst I ever heard (He was a drum god in his debut album with priest). The lyrics are the worst of them all, who told Glen Tipton the he could write lyrics. There are no killer songs in this album (unlike the rest of jp albums) there a couple of good ones (One on one, Hell is Home, Close to you, Bloodsuckers, Feed on Me). YES, 5 of 13. Let me make a special note of Feed of Me which is the best song off this album it is good because it sounds more like DIO and ripper did a great job on it vocally. If you want to buy new Priest music I recommend to buy Halford Live insurrection album or JP's Painkiller. Demolition is great example of what happens to you when you try to be something you are not thus betraying your long time fans.
