Judas Priest (formed in 1969) are the real Godfathers of METAL. They've never died out like other legendary metal bands have. Such as black sabbath, alice cooper, or deep purple. Sure, Judas Priest had some pop/hard rock tunes on Point of Entry and Turbo. But those albums still went platinum and had several hit songs. The majority of Judas Priest CDs are packed with extremely heavy and dark metal tunes. The lyrics are gothic. The duel guitar solos are professional unlike the cheesy iron maiden or def leppard. The vocals are on key, loud, and universal. With Judas Priest's new CD called Demolition. I'd say this is in the top 5 best Judas Priest CDs of all time. You've got the most well balanced mix I've ever heard in a metal recording. The rythm and lead guitars are heard crystal clear. The distortion is perfectly crisp. The guitars are down tuned to sound deep, warm, and modern. The double bass drums are loud and dominant. Ian Hill's funk/metal basslines provide listeners with a constant feel of movement. Ripper Owen's genius singing is absolutly great on this CD. He blends modern with old school. His voice is a combination of Rob Halford, Phil Anselmo, and Ronnie James Dio. True Ripper doesn't do as much high pitched screaming. He'll do that in concert. And believe me the man can sing on key and with a lot of power. He is like a machine! All of the songs on this CD have catchy melodies and great special effects. This CD has a blend of slow, medium and fast paced songs. The only song that has corny lyrics is Machine Man but that shouldn't be a problem. Check out Judas Priest on tour!
