Not Classic Priest....A New Page In Judas Priest History!

Now that this album has been out for a year, and I've had ample time to soak it in.....DEMOLITION comes through as an another impressive work by one of metal's greatest bands!

If you are expecting 80's Judas Priest, you may want to pick up Halford's RESURRECTION instead. This album does not sound similar to anything Judas Priest have recorded so far. I think this is why it may have received many bad reviews. And of course, many of them, unfairly, are because of the obvious fact that Rob Halford is no longer their vocalist. DEMOLTION is not without flaws. There are a few weak tracks on here "Jeckyl & Hyde" & "Close to You", but doesn't every Priest album have a weak track or two. TURBO and RAM IT DOWN had quite a few, as I recall. In it's defense, there are many tracks that shine with glory...."One On One", "Hell is Home" & "Feed On Me" to name a few.

Rob Halford is a "one of a kind" who will never be "replaced". Ripper has proven to be a more than capable singer in the live arena. He is more precise, live, than Halford ever was with Priest. In the studio, he has yet to reach his potential. Ripper's performance on DEMOLITION is, however, satisfying overall. The production could be a little better. DEMOLITION is easily a better release than JUGULATOR, which may not say a lot to many.

Although a reunion of Rob Halford with Priest may be looming, I am in no hurry for that day to come. After just seeing Judas Priest perform in Richmond, VA last week and after spinning DEMOLITION for the umpteenth time, I am looking forward to what the Ripper-fronted Priest has in store for their next onslaught. I am impatiently waiting, like a 6 year-old at Christmas, over the mailbox arrival of the much anticipated LIVE IN LONDON DVD, which was just released. In a live setting, Priest are at the top of thier game right now. Keep the Faith!
