I wanted to like this album. As a long-time fan of Judas Priest I expected something akin to Jugulator, with a further maturation of Ripper Owens on vocals and better lyrics. When I purchased this CD, I was in for a shock:Demolition is WORSE than Jugulator. Insipid lyrics, mediocore guitar riffs that go nowhere, and a phoned-in performance by all parties involved. Ripper doesn't top his debut performance from Jugulator, barely pushing the envelope of his range with nary a high-pitched shriek to be found. It doesn't help that he has to read some truly awful song lyrics, penned by band leader Glenn Tipton; Demolition begs for the departed Rob Halford's skill as a songwriter more than his skill as a singer. There are two or three songs I enjoyed here, "Bloodsuckers" and "Metal Messiah" come to mind. A couple of other songs pass as listenable, but on the whole this album speaks as bleak testament to the failure of Priest's new approach to their music. Swallow your pride and get Halford back at any cost guys.
