Yes, I said it. Rob Who? Not to take anything away from Rob Halford, I think JP is doing great. The band has stepped up to the plate and hit a HOME RUN. I realize that many folks out there are having a hard time with the departure of Rob Halford, but this new Demolition recording is far better than Turbo or the lame Ram It Down. You gotta admit that JP was losing ground very fast and Painkiller saved them and once they got past Jugulator (which is not a bad cd, once you get used to Demolition) they are now back on track. Demolition kicks from start to finish. I give it as many thumbs up as can possibly be given. I love this cd and have listened to it over and over and it still jams. All my friends had a hard time with it, but after having getting familiar with the tracks admitted that it jammed. It's not vintage JP. We all know about all the classic JP cd's out there and most of some of those progressed with time. Change is inevitable and with or without Rob Halford, JP was changing. Now, many of you claim that Jugulator and Demolition are take offs fron Glenn's Baptism of Fire cd. If any of you have listened to that cd, well, what's so bad about that, considering that cd kicks ass as well. Tim Ripper Owens fits in well with the style that JP has ventured into and live in concert sounds pretty good singing the other JP songs. Sadly, Tim has departed and Rob is back. I admit that, that's great, but my greatist fear is that sooner or later, after this big reunion, Rob will leave the band again. I only hope JP can get Ripper back.
I won't get into details of each and every song but I will say that despite their new sound, you can throughout the cd hear and feel some of the old classic JP sounds from back in the day. You will hear arrangements that will make you say "hey that sounds a little like vintage JP". They managed to incorporate some of the old style sounds and mixed it in very well with progress. Over all, Demolition is a JP masterpiece.
