Better than Jugulator but not really a great Priest Album !

Oh man, after the dissapointing "Jugulator" CD, Judas Priest have made a follow up album which is better but not really convincing.

Out of all the songs on the CD and a length of 73 minutes (the longest Priest album ever) I must say that only about 3 songs have the high standard that Priest were renowned for. "Metal Messiah", "One on One" and "Close to You" are certainly great tunes, "Close to You" being the best semi-ballad that Priest ever wrote, but the rest of the album is simply disappointing.

The catchy riffs that Priest had made their trademark are totally missing; sure Ripper can sing, but what use is that when most of the song material is simply average. I really used to love this band, being a true fan of what these fabulous musicians did in the 70's, 80's and was of course totally blown away by "Painkiller" in 1990, but Priest have really lost their way.

One can only hope that the Reunion with former Singer and Metal God, Rob Halford will once again bring back the true Priest sound. I dare say if the band releases another mediocre type of album after having already made 2 such albums in the past, that this would be the last nail in their coffin. Let's hope that the new album will be a great one, since the guys aren't the youngest anymore, it might well be their last chance that their old fans give them before they turn their backs on them for good.
