I was a diehard fan from hearing Powerslave and then going backwards to research thier earlier stuff. It's interresting to hear the transition from Dianno to Dickinson, and love all thier stuff. While this album isn't in thier first 5, (which I consider over 15 yrs later as thier best) it's probably thier last "decent" album. I'd still buy this one but I could also live without it. It can be said that this album is a slight improvement over Somewhere In Time, but it begins to become obvious with this one as well, that these great musicians are starting to run short on ideas. Hey it happens to all great bands eventually. It was after this album and hearing thier next two albums that I began to realize I wasn't so much an Iron Maiden Fan as a fan of good music. If you like good music this is the last maiden album I can recommend.
