Nicko McBrain in both a Brave New World and in Rock In Rio lays out exactly what it takes to:
a) Play masterfully and in perfect sync:
b) Elaborate where necessary, and without the sometimes silly overplaying as seen by others.
c) Explifies that in a live show, one need not get carried away with the moment, leading to a careless and undisciplined approach which is MUCH too often the case.
d) Hard Rock dosen't mean incessant double bass drums and ceaseless cymbal crashes - a transparent means to make up for inadequacies of technique and skill.
Mr. McBrain you are an inspiration!! I have not been a long standing fan of Iron Maiden and I have only begun this experience with their last studio venture.....however, I have nothing but total admiration at what they have accomplished lately. A superb album in Brave New World, an outstanding live album in Rock in Rio, ...and last but not the least, .....Maiden's decision to choose Kevin Shirley as producer. ...
