I've been a Maiden fan since 1982. They have always been one of the tightest, most impressive live performing bands in Heavy Metal. It's now 2002, and not much has changed. Sure, their older, and not quite as tight, but they still [rock] on this "Rock In Rio". It's without question the best live recording they've done since "Live After Death".The set list is questionable in my opinion, and that's why I only gave this four stars. The production is surprisingly very good. I was worried this may be another dead one....It's not. The addition of guitarist J. Gerrs still annoys me though, and I wish he would let Maiden move on without him. A. Smith is the key ingredient in Iron Maiden in my opinion, and he wrote many of the greatest songs Maiden has ever released. His absence of influence on BNW was very disappointing to me. Adrian makes Maiden the very best they can be. Throwing Janick into the mix, just makes them sound off key to me. He sounds good on "Rock In Rio", but when he starts playing Adrians leads, I get very angry. All in all, I highly recommend this Iron Maiden release. It will be followed by the "Rock In Rio" DVD. This release poves that Heavy Metal isn't dead, and that as long as Maiden are still around, it will never die!!!.....UP THE IRONS!!!
