I must say i'm quite impressed with the new live Maiden album. I held off buying it for awhile because i figured that i had enough live Maiden. But I finally got it, and i'm glad that I did, because it rocks. I like the production, it sounds very raw, but in a good way, and very live and in the moment. I saw the BNW tour, and obviously it's that setlist. I think they breathe new life into some of the old classics ("Wrathchild" sounds particularly inspired) and the Brave New World material sounds fantatic live. My only complaint is the inclusion of the 2 LONG Blaze era songs. I know that to have not played any of the Blaze material would be to acknowledge that those albums were not up to par, but i don't think they had to chew up almost 20 minutes with those 2 tracks. They could have played 1 or 2 of the shorter songs, and left a bit more time for a few more Maiden classics. With that said, "Sign of the Cross" is bearable with Bruce singing! So, overall, if you are a Maiden fan, or an old fan who somehow missed "Brave New World" and wondering if the old guys still have any fire left in them, they do! Curious to hear what they do next!!
