Those of us old enough to remember, Iron Maiden was the best live metal band in the '80's. Better than Metallica, better than Priest, better than you name it. I lost track of Maiden about ten years ago. They did continue to put out albums, but with different lineup configurations. In 2000, they put out what has to be called the greatest comeback album ever in A Brave New World. The classic lineup in place in addition to Janick Gers on guitar, this CD is a live recording of their festival show in Brazil. Amazing. The power and ferocity of the band is ever evident here. Bruce Dickinson voice is fantastic. What a range this guy has. The triple guitar interplay between Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers is a rhythmic tour de force not to mention excellent guitar solos. Of course Steve Harris and Nicko McBrain provide the real thrust making you feel like you're being stampeded by a herd of elephants upon listening. The other cool thing about this CD is the audience, excuse me, the small country, is chanting and screaming in unison throughout and it sends shivers down your spine. Brave New World tracks are heavily represented, but also crucial classics like Wrathchild, The Trooper, and The Number Of The Beast are included. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how good songs like Sign Of The Cross and The Clansman are. Those two songs were originally recorded during a pretty obscure time in Maiden's history with a replacement singer for the irreplaceable (sp?) Dickinson. The point is, this is Iron Maiden, and they are one of the best metal bands on the planet.
