A true classic which sounds years ahead of its time, _Powerslave_, is probably my third favorite Maiden album behind _Seventh Son_ and _Somewhere in Time_. Each and every song on this album is a jewel of energetic and graceful music combined with story-telling lyrics -- the most precious of which being the driving "Aces High," mini-epic title-track "Powerslave," and full-blown 13+ minute epic "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." Yet even singling out these songs seems to do an injustice to the rest of the sensational tracks on the album. There is a certain amount of raw, unrefinedness to the album when compared to the albums that would be coming later ... never-the-less, in my opinion the production and mix on the album is still adequate at the very least. This is an essnetial album for metal fans.
