Good, But Still One of the Worst Iron Maiden Albums

No Prayer for the Dying and this album got a extremely negative response from a lot of fans. That was inevitable because of the departure of Adrian Smith. The biggest problem with the album was not the production(which was only decent) or Janick Gers. It was the horrid songs that made up half the album which drag the good ones down. Many fans were so pessimistic that they only looked at the five ... songs and completely ignored the best ones("Afraid to Shoot Strangers" and "Fear of the Dark" are masterpieces!). Be Quick or Be Dead is a good song that is fast and heavy, like most first tracks of Iron Maiden. From Here to Eternity is actually a quite mediocre song(and that's putting it nicely). The next song is Afraid to Shoot Strangers, which is one of the best Maiden songs ever and Childhood's End is a good song which definitely shouldn't be overlooked. Wasting Love is better than the second track but still kind of weak. Judas Be My Guide is one of the best songs on the album, with its only flaw being that it's too short. Fear is the Key and Chains of Misery are two more weak songs that aren't great but once again, worth hearing. I will not even describe the ... which is Apparition and Weekend Warrior. Almost every Iron Maiden song I've ever heard wasn't bad, but these songs just suck!! Fear of the Dark is probably the best song on the album so I'll just leave it at that. Overall, this album was good. True, only six out of the twelve were great but you should look at it this way: Powerslave only had five great songs on it. If this album had only eight tracks, then most people would consider it excellent. By the way, all those who say this album ...because of Janick Gerrs needs to shut the ... up.
