I own almost every Maiden album and I have to say this one really disappoints me. If you try to like it, you will....but only for a short time. Since there aren't very many fantastic songs here, your not goin to come listen to this over and over again like their first seven albums.

Be Quick or Be Dead- The hardest song on the album. Murray has a good solo in it but Bruce's vocals are raspy. A-

From Here to Eternity- I personally like this song, especially the chorus. Murray has another impressive solo. (His is first and Janick takes over at the end.) A-

Afraid to Shoot Strangers- If you really want to know this is the only reason for me to listen to this album. After the first four minutes the guitars explode into a frenzy of solos. One of the most beautiful ballads Maiden recorded in the nineties. A+

Fear is the Key- from here on the album is basically dull escept for a few parts here and there. This track holds the worst Maiden guitar solo ever. Just weak overall. Ugh. C

Childhood's End- A good song, especially the instrumental part in the middle. Not anything that special though. B

Wasting Love- This is the supposed prequel to Dream of Mirrors which I think drags on. Very soft. This song is decent like the above. B

Fugitive- saves the middle of the album. Lyrics are good, and so is the tune and beat. Worth a listen. A-

Chains of Misery- another good song like above. Kind of a cheesy chorus but the solos are good. B+

Apparition- Awful. Ah that's too harsh a word. Not good. Very cheesy as you can tell by the first five seconds. Intersting part in the middle but that's it. C

Judas My Guide- memorable chorus but I really don't like Maiden's sound on this album. B

Weekend Warrior- better than The Apparition but really nothing special. The first ten seconds make you think this a good song until the verses. Horrible lyrics and verses. I didn't know this was about soccer until someone told me. So bad. C

Fear of the Dark- finally a decent epic to close the album. Better than Mother Russia but not nearly as good as Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and to me even To Tame a Land. It is a very memorable song though. A

Well if you are a maiden fan I would buy it. You will probably disagree with me the first month or two you have it but then agree with me. I cannot recommend this to anyone else though. If you want the best songs from this album and you don' want to get into Iron Maiden (why would anyone not want to?) then go buy the 27 track version of The Best of the Beast.
