Aside from maybe Black Sabbath, no one in the history of metal can touch Iron Maiden. Some people say Judas Priest are a better band. I spit on these people's graves. Which is why it's so disappointing seeing somenone try to summarise the 'Maiden's back catalogue in such a shoddy compilation. Never mind that all this does is distract people from their back catalogue (Iron Maiden, Killers, Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Piece of Mind, Seventh Son....., Brave New World, Dance of Death.......) which is full of classics. Never mind that it isn't even as good as 'The Best of the Beast'. Never mind that it leaves out the entire Paul Di'Anno period but manages to include 1/2 of "Seventh son...". The worst part of this is that it is so completely unnecessary. 'The Best of the Beast" already does a decent job as a career-encompassing compilation, why release another one? It's not like this is going to win them many new fans. Their classic albums are all good enough so that they don't need to be boiled down to just 'the hits', practically every song on almost every album is worth listening to. All this does is make people think that their careers are over, which the excellent 'Dance of Death' proves is completely untrue. This compilation seems a lot like a cash-in from the record label, meant to co-incide with the excellent 'Eddie's Archive' b-sides box set. It serves no purpose. If you're new to metal and are thinking of buying this to sample Iron Maiden, it's just a waste of time, buy one of their recently-reissued albums instead.
