As an equal new metal fan (I refuse to say "nu") i always felt not one band today can put a finger on my absolute favorite band of all time...Iron Maiden! This CD not only cements that belief, but it was also done right smack in the middle of all these "young superstar acts" of today, being relased in 2000. For anyone who can trash this album, look inside your cd book and put out ONE SINGLE CD THAT IS BETTER THEN THIS ONE! TRY IT!!!!! Ahem, to the songs:The Wicker Man: 5/5 great starting song, although it did suffer "mainstream syndrome" a bit. Ghost of Navigator: 5/5 VERY good work, classic Maiden. Brave New World: 5/5 Ah, a Maiden CD with the title track being weak? SAY IT AIN'T SO! Sorry to dissapoint, but it's all good! Blood Brothers: 4/5 At first i really didn't get it, but after subsequent listening i do enjoy it now. The Mercenery: 5/5 I loved the kick in the teeth guitar intro! Dream of Mirrors: 5/5 This song seems like a dream, one very good one. PPL rag it b/c it's over 9 minutes, but the patient know the goodness of the song! Fallen Angel: 4/5 Hard! The Nomad: 6/5 Another 9+ minute song, but this one kicks MAJOR BOOTY! The solos in the middle, the Air Raid singing, and Nicko's drumming, DARN! Out of the Silent Planet: 5/5 See a pattern? The Thin Line: 3/5 In my professional opinion this one sort of pales face to face with the rest of them. From anyone else this song would be a hit but it lacks a punch, espically being the last song on the CD, which is rare for IM. Overall: 9 of the 10 kick major arse and 1 some bits. Very good CD for any IM fan or ORIGINAL METAL FAN! Up the Irons!
