A Brave New World In A Brave New World

When Iron Maiden fans across the world saw the departure of, first, guitarist Adrian Smith, followed by legendary vocalist Bruce Dickinson back in '90 and '92, we must have thought that it was all falling apart. Janick Gers lived up to his place as a replacement and was spectacular at that, but Maiden fans alike will concur that Blaze Bayley just wouldn't do it for the band. So after the 8 years of what is known to us fans as the "Blaze Bayley era", when the news is broken that, not only has Bruce Dickinson returned, but Adrian is back as well! What about Janick..? Well, they kept 'em. Maiden is back with a scorching three-guitar lineup, with of course, Steve Harris and Nicko McBrain and Dave Murray remaining in the band as well. As you can imagine, the excitement was obligitory.

So now about the actual album. This one is the real thing. Talk about a comeback, on this release, Iron Maiden proves that they've still got it and they always will. The song production is great, triple harmonies and pounding rythm lines equal unforgettable songs. Some songs are a bit different sounding than classic Maiden, but it's all there. The solos, instrumental breaks, thick basslines, Nicko beating on his drums, and Bruce's wonderful vocals. Not to mention the couple of 9 minute ballads found on this..

Now, the songs.

The Wickerman - A perfect intro song. Fast paced, catchy chorus and nice riffs. You'll be singing this one forever.
Ghost Of The Navigator - I personally love this song. As usual, Maiden's lyrics are historical and intriguing. A somewhat slow song with a fast interlude.
Brave New World - This one is beautiful. The soloing is great, and the overall song is beautiful. Starts out calm and picks up momentum.
Blood Brothers - This is a touching song that Steve Harris wrote about his passed away father. Another classic and a great song.
The Mercenary - This song is one of the faster ones. A great song, yet another song with a catchy chorus and excellent other parts.
Dream Of Mirrors - This 9+ minute metal anthem is awesome. It takes awhile to get going but you will get lost in this song over and over again.
Fallen Angel - The intro to this one almost sounds like some good classic songs. It's pretty good, there isn't a bad song on this CD and this one holds it's place. Moderate speed I'd say.
Nomad - Here's another 9 minuter. Another one of Maiden's "middle eastern" sounding songs as well. If you liked Powerslave and Revelations you'll love this one.
Out Of The Silent Planet - This is quite possibly the coolest song on the album. It has been stuck in my head forever and I hope it does the same to you because it is a rockin' song.
Thin Line Between Love And Hate - The Closer. It's a good song to conclude the epic album. I didn't listen to this one as much as the others but it was still great. A little bit slower.

If you like Iron Maiden, buy this immediately. If you don't like Iron Maiden, still buy it because you will love them. If you don't know who Iron Maiden is, buy this. This is by far one of the biggest landmarks that Iron Maiden has made and this album should be owned by every fan of metal alive.
