Brave New World

(Average Rating: 9.08 out of 10)

Very solid with a couple glimpses of brilliance

This is a wonderful reminder of what Maiden once was. The tracks are nicely laid out and I recommend that you listen to the album in its entirety, in order, at least once. While I do not think this album competes with several other Maiden albums (Somewhere In Time, Seventh Son) it is very good and has a few songs which bring us back to the great days of Maiden. Brave New World is an excellent track, Wicker Man is very strong, but Out Of The Silent Planet is everything a Maiden song should be...It is Somewhere in Time, Powerslave, and Seventh Son rolled into one exceptional tune. My only complaint with the album is the evidence of Dickensons limitations. I like Dickinson but his voice appears to have taken a beating over the years. Don't misunderstand, Dickinson does not sound bad on this album, the album vocals tracks are simply written for an aging voice...in other words there are no exceptional operetic moments that we have come to associate with Dickinson era Maiden. If you are a true Maiden fan, you already have this album, but if you are a passive fan, this is one of Maiden's best and deserves some attention...check it out.
