Sure Iron Maiden has been listed in many modern metal band's list of influences, but Maiden's music proves that they are much more than just metal. Like Rush in the 70's, Maiden created an image with their album covers, underscoring thier musical range. From the early punk-infused rock of thier debut and Killers, to the progressive sounds of Somewhere in Time and 7th son this cd proves that Iron Maiden has always been, for the most part, an intelligent, musically talented band, which refused to fit neatly into the genre contraints of metal, like so many of those bands they have influenced. Though this collection misses some of thier best moments (such as Alexander the Great, and the jazz infused Infinite Dreams), it is a good introduction to the tepid listener who may not be a metal fan, but surly would like the music of these British 40 somethings....
