Some of Maiden Classics

The first track, Virus, promises very much. interesting beginning. First silent, then tough, silent again, tough...etc. And then typical Iron Maiden melody. "The sign of the cross" is too long and monotonic. It shouldn't last more than 5 minutes. "Man on the Edge" is quite a good but those who are used with Bruce Dickinson or Paul Di'Anno might have shock. The vocals are too low.

"Fear of the Fark" and "Afraid to Shoot Stangers" are very good live tracks, a little peaceful. On the other it sound stupid when the whole audience sings along. Would you be afraid of the dark if you have the whole audience around you.

"Be Quick Or Be Dead" is a number one hit. It is very fast song and has strong vocals. Good, Bruce couldn't be better. "Bring Your Daughter...to the Slaughter" (number 1 hit, tells about a girl who a boy wants to have). This is a song which is sung to a girl's father. "Holy Smoke" is an attack to the priest. These two last ones are choices that I would have left away.

"The Clairvoaynt" is a very fast song. "Can I Play With Madness" and "The Evil That Man Do". All they are true Iron Maiden top-6 stuff. Maybe I miss "Infinte Dreams". But everything can't be put to this album. "Heaven Can Wait" is a little bit too long but very fast. "Wasted Years" is a classic, relaxing track. They have probably been remembering good old times and written this song.

Disc 2 starts with two live tracks. The first one "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" is maybe too long. The second one is edited and is much better than studio version, faster and they play better.

"2 Minutes to Midnight" and a war song "Aces High" are very fast tracks and true Maiden Song. Another war song "The Trooper" and "Where EaglesDare" are too fast and has good guitars.

"Run to the Hills", there's very excellent drums and guitars, very fast one, tells about indians. "The Number of the Beast" is a devil song. Maybe doesn't have interesting vocals but the drums and guitars are excellent. "Hallowed Be Thy Name" is like "Fear of the Dark". This has good bells and feels like you would be doomed while listening this. Actually it tells about a doomed one.

The last tracks are sung by Paul Di'Anno. "Wrathchild", a very angry song. Tells about a man who wants to find this enemy. "Sanctuary" tells about a man who has killed a woman and wants to get into sanctuary. "Strange World", a ballad about a world which has many interesting things. It is surprising that Di'Anno can sing so peacefully good songs. "Phantom of the Opera". It sound like there would be twoor three man singing at the same time...scary. "Iron Maiden" is a killing track. The same lyrics are repeted three times.

I have to say I miss some songs like "Infinte Dreams", "Killers", "Charlotte the Harlot" and "Powerslave" but these are good songs too.
