The first four songs really make this album, the rest doesn't quite stand out. Some of the melodies are incredible and exciting ('Gyroscope', and 'Dialogue...'), but the obvious comparison is to At The Gates, and despite being more prolific, In Flames just can't match them for songwriting or musicianship. Also, some of the song melodies are so strong as to require a more melodic vocal style, rather than the monotone barking found here. Not perfect, but a good effort, and they still got my money!
