I was a little dissapointed, but hey, it's a great CD

Having heard of this band through my brother (he had bought 'Colony') and having read the godly reviews of this CD, I saw a digipak of this at [MISC. STORE], so I decided to grab it. I popped into my stereo and enjoyed. I love the distortion on the guitars, the booming bass, and the awesome sounding drums. The melodies created by this band on this CD are great too. It's not your typical 'look we're from northern Europe, so we must be talented musicians' type band that just crams a bunch or 'Powerslave' riffs into a few songs, detunes them, and adds screaming vocals. I do have some complaints though: This isn't the best CD ever made, like everyone depicts it as. I've seen people who are like 'Forget Metallica and Yngwie, these guys are the true guitar masters.' That's the biggest piece o' cr@p I've ever heard. In Flames are good, but not THAT good. Another thing is the vocals. It doesn't seem to be a problem on any other IF record than this one. The vocals are good, but it's sooooo annoying to hear him gasping for air ever time he speaks.I think he was trying to sound like Tomas Lindberg from At The Gates/The Crown. One last knit-pick is that everyone said that 'Goliaths Disarm their Davids' is probably the best IF song. While in it's entirity it's a good song, it sounds almost exactly like 'The Jester Race.' But anywho, this was an awesome record. Those who think they know what the 'Gothenburg sound' is and don't have/listened to this album have no idea. This is an excellent CD if you're looking for some good melodic death. *Can't do member profiles because IF fails to put them in the booklet.*
