I have reviewed _The Jester Race_ elsewhere (it's a five-star album), and here I will only comment on _Black-Ash Inheritance_, the 1997 EP packaged with the old album. You are treated to a nice digipak with four new songs tagged onto the end of the original album. First up is "Goliaths Disarm Their Davids", which is pretty much In Flames as we know and love them. A very good song that fits nicely alongside the rest of the songs from _The Jester Race_. Then we have "Gyroscope", the third song from the _Whoracle_, the album that followed _The Jester Race_. Then there is the lovely "Acoustic Medley", which reinterprets some classic In Flames songs with a pair of acoustic guitars. Listen for themes from "Lord Hypnos", "Jotun", "Dead Eternity", and more. Finally, there is the live cut of "Behind Space", a song from the band's album first album. This is an example of how NOT to record a live song. It sounds like one of those old Opeth demos (and that's a bad thing). Just a note, I recently saw In Flames in concert and they played "Behind Space" - it's a killer live song, I say. Anyhow, this edition of _The Jester Race_ is the one to own. "Goliaths Disarm Their Davids" and "Acoustic Medley" are too good to be without.
