I would give this a 4 1/2 if I could, but anyways...A lot of the songs kinda start out dumb, but yet some songs start out really good, which is kinda odd. A lot of the riffas are excellent, and so far this is my favorite of the 3 In Flames albums I have (Colony, Reroute to Remain, this).
Reviews.. 1. Moonshield: Pretty good, bad beginning, but then when the actual song comes up its good. The lyrics aren't as good on this song, and the music is still okay.
Rating: C+ 2. The Jester's Dance: Another bad beginning, and the rest of song doesn't really shine. It is instrumental, however.
Rating: D 3. Artifacts of the Black Rain: The best song on the album, and one of my favorite In Flames songs, great beginning, and then one sweet riff throughout the song. Plus a pretty good solo, too.
Rating: A 4. Graveland: Cool beginning, nice little "section" or whatever. The rest of the song is pretty good, but not the best.
Rating: B- 5. Lord Hypnos: Decent opening riff, but then rest of the song seems rather empty. But it does have some great riffs throughout the song.
Rating: C+/B- 6. Dead Eternity: Decent song, one of the better ones on the album, but yet the lyrics aren't as good on this song imo.
Rating: C+/B- 7. The Jester Race: Grr... another bad beginning, and the rest of the song is lacking...
Rating: C 8. December Flower: Great opening riff, and a good song all the way through, another one of the better songs on the album.
Rating: B+ 9. Wayfaerer: Another instrumental song, but a lot better than the first one. Not bad, either.
Rating: C/C+ 10. Dead God in Me: One weird riff in the beginning, or at least it sounds that way. Nice song, though, good breaks in the lyrics, and then when the lyrics are there, the music complements them nicely.
Rating: B+ 11. Goliaths Disarm Their Davids: Another slow beginning, and the rest of the song is okay. The lyrics/voice isn't all that good, though.
Rating: C+ 12. Gyroscope: Erm, just not my favorite.
Rating: C 13. Acoustic Melody: Another instrumental, and not a very good one in my opinion.
Rating: C- 14. Behind Space: I quite like this version, i like it about the same as the non-live versions.
Rating: B Overall, a good album!..
