In Flames releases another unforgettable album in Reroute to Remain. They are one of the best metal bands in this day, and while their songs have declined in some ways, they have propelled upwards in others. It starts strong with title track Reroute to Remain, and finishes even stronger with Black & White. Highlights of this CD are the songs System, Cloud Connected, Transparent, Dawn of a New Day, Minus, Dismiss the Cynics, and Dark Signs. The rest of the songs are only marginally acceptable, except for Metaphor, which was the only bad song of the bunch. The fact that the album is almost devoid of the dueling solos that made In Flames famous is overshadowed by the deep, thoughtful lyrics that the songs contain. To call this album their best isn't even plausible, but it shows that In Flames is still at their prime, and still one of the best metal bands available.
