Ive always enjoyed In Flames but never thought they were the greatest of the gothenburg bands. They have a nice sound and deserve their success however I much rather preferred At The Gates and Dark Tranquillity to them. On this album nothing really has changed yet people seem intent on harping on this "In Flames sell out" stupidity. They still sound like a death metal Iron Maiden, they still use primarily death vocals and thrash the same way they always have. If anything, this is fresher than the previous release "Clayman" but really I find their albums structurally interchangeable ever since Jesters Race. (dont nitpick on the details of what I mean). Really the only people complaining about In Flames are the 16-17 year old teenagers who really have no idea what a sell out is. This is a decent album with a few new tricks, but nothing you need to worry about.
