Q: Is this watered down compared to their older releases?
A: Yes.

Q: Is the In Flames style still recognizable here?
A: Yes.

Q: Does it sound good?
A: Yes!

Alright, a change in sound is much different then selling out. There are some really amazing songs on this CD and they sound nothing like NuMetal at all, but this CD is more 'accessable' when compared to their older releases, which I think could be due to the use of keyboards to a greater extent. I used to listen to NuMetal (*shudders* Adema, Linkin Park...) but I stopped because I found out what good metal was like. What made me change? This CD! It was the first In Flames album I ever heard, and In Flames was the first real metal band I have ever heard. Comparing this to NuMetal is like comparing apples to oranges. However, let's just hope their sound doesn't get watered down any more because this band would be a real loss to the metal genre.

=======Bottom Line=======
A good, slightly watered down In Flames release that might not appeal to real hardcore fans of the band's earlier albums. A good CD to get your friends off NuMetal.

*In my opinion, "Clayman" was the best In Flames CD. Good production and some of the best songs ever created by the band. "Whoracle" and "Colony" have the heaviest sound to me.

Let's hope they have a winner with their next release (due to come out in about a month from when this review was written)
