Normally I listen to nu-metal bands like Slipknot or Fear Factory and never really listened to death metal. After hearing this album my musical tastes went into a whole new direction. Most hardcore In Flames fans say that Jester's Race should be the first album you get from these guys, but I disagree (especially if you are not familiar with death/black metal). This album has many aspects of death metal in the vocals and many aspects of black metal with the keyboards, but still has hooks to appeal to any metal fan. Songs such as Pinball Map, Only For the Weak and Bullet Ride are great songs that have amazing hooks and awesome instrumentals. I have now heard all of their cds, but I keep on coming back to Clayman because I still think that this cd has their best songs. So if you like bands like Slipknot, Korn, Fear Factory, Coal Chamber, or Godsmack give In Flames a listen and expand your metal tastes.
