iced earth love to do trilogy`s in their album`s ("the suffering" on "the dark sega" and "something wicked" at "something wicked this way come`s") but the trilogy for "the glorious burden" the "gettysburg (1863)" take them all without a blink. the amazing orchestra adds so much more to these already amazing songs. lyricly maybe the best song`s jon ever wrote."the glorious burden" is an amazing cd with a good metal view of history.i dont know if its their best album ("something wicked..." and "horror show" creeps behind) but one thing for sure iced are geeting better with every cd.the layout for this cd is the best i ever seen,and ive seen alot.the only bad thing i can say about this cd is that matt barlow isn`t doing the vocal but tim "repear" owens replacing him superbly.the idea to do two versions,one normal and one unplugged to "when the eagle cries" was pure justified.but i still dont understand why to do a "europe version" and a "us version" plus a "2 cd version" of the cd`s? why not to realese it world wide? i wouldent cut out any song in this cd.this album is unbeliveble and if you are a metal freak YOU MUST HAVE IT!!!. for iced earth - youre just geting better and better.now i have to start looking at my calender and wait for the next album,hopefully it wont take 3 years to wait again!!!
